
Ed Fisher, President
Ed Fisher is the President and Founder of The Fisher Group, LLC, a Washington, DC based government affairs and strategic advisory firm. He represents clients across healthcare, public utilities, real estate development, emerging technologies, and higher education, helping organizations navigate complex regulatory and political environments at the local and regional levels.
Ed brings experience from both the public and private sectors. He previously served as Assistant Vice President for Community & Government Affairs at American University, where he led the development and implementation of the university’s campus plan and managed legislative strategy and neighborhood engagement.
Prior to that, Ed was appointed by DC Mayor Muriel Bowser as Executive Director of the St. Elizabeths East Redevelopment, overseeing one of the largest public real estate development projects in Washington, DC, with projected investments exceeding $2 billion. The first phase included the practice facility for the Washington Wizards and Mystics, a 4,200-seat sports and entertainment arena, and a mix of affordable and market-rate housing, commercial office space, and retail.
Earlier in his career, Ed held several senior leadership roles with the Council of the District of Columbia, including Chief of Staff, Committee Director, and Legislative Counsel. In those roles, he drafted legislation, shaped policy, directed legislative strategy, and managed day-to-day Council operations. He also served as Director of Community Affairs for CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, where he led community investment and corporate philanthropy initiatives.
His professional background also includes experience in financial services at SunTrust Bank and litigation work at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Federal Election Commission.
Ed has served as a Commissioner for the DC Housing Authority, an Advisory Board Member for Girls on the Run–DC, and is a co-founder of the Man Up! Leadership Bootcamp and The Lifting As We Climb Foundation. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and was recognized with the 2012 Community Leadership Award from Uptown Magazine.
He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Hampton University and a Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law.
